Design Process - the Gulch - Envisioning a New Eco City
Linkages, Nodes, and Landmarks

This project competition was an exercise in the redevelopment of an extensive, but under-utilized, and neglected downtown area in Atlanta. The goal was to create a new focal destination for downtown Atlanta.

The design solution seeks to create an ecologically-sensitive and sustainable metropolis that connects back to the existing convention center, entertainment and hotel districts through the use of urban pattern languages.

Located at the center of this eco-city is a research institute/eco-museum surrounded by LEED Gold/Platinum certified high-rise office towers.

Another primary goal of the design was to explore sustainable strategies to minimize people's impact on the natural environment while maximizing our quality of life.
